The Late Dato' Teo Hang Sam came to our shores in the late 1920s having left Swatow in China to fulfill his dreams of establishing a "warehouse full of wealth across the four seas". He founded See Hoy Chan in the pre-war year of 1938 with the establishment of a sundry store in Kuala Lumpur. In September 1952, the sole proprietary business was incorporated into a private limited
company to what is known today as See Hoy Chan Sdn, Berhad. From the humble beginnings of a sundry store, Dato' Teo ventured into rice trading and other foodstuff merchandising. In the early 1950s, Dato' Teo started operations in Singapore. As business flourished on both sides of the Causeway, Dato' Teo ventured into other businesses.
Today, the See Hoy Chan Sdn. Berhad Group continues to conduct businesses both in Malaysia and Singapore as a diversified conglomerate. In his lifetime, Dato' Teo, the philanthropist, contributed significantly to various charities, schools and hospitals.
